This is one of two base cards I completed for Bad Axe Studios' Bombshells: Women of War trading card set. I tried to make both images have a similar feel and poses reminiscent of one another.
It started as COPIC markers, COPIC sepia & black multiliners, acrylic paint, colored pencils, and white ink on 9x12 off-white medium strathmore drawing paper. From there she went into Photoshop and I whitened the pillows, added the quoted text, and the BadAxe logo to the newspaper. The figure is photo referenced, but for the life of me I cannot find the image now - though I admit I didn't search very hard.
My goal was to take a modern look, with the black lace et. al., and give it a classic sensibility. The switch to true white on the pillows better shows the color of the paper, and seems to really add to the "vintage" feel. Oh, and I designed the lace patterns myself, as I always find that an awesomely fun challenge.
