Catwoman (After AH!) by RichardCox Catwoman (After AH!) by RichardCox
This Catwoman is a bust that's my take on the Selina in the very well-known Adam Hughes Women of DC poster. I don't own the poster, and only have web-based images to refer to, which is perfect as I had no desire to attempt a direct copy but instead, as is a tradition in art, use it as an opportunity to do "my" version. The kitty cat is the client's cat. Well, it was a gift for a friend, so client is the wrong word. She has to be nice to me. :)

It's 9x12, Copic markers/white ink/colored pencils on off-white, 400lb medium drawing paper. It was about 6-8 hours of work I think?

Does that cat have diamond-studden teeth in a Cheshire cat grin? Or is Selina holding up a white cloth whose blue edges just look like the blue shadows around her whole figure, and therefore make the cat appear to have a narrow neck and a hefty jaw with aforementioned teeth?

--Nonie, who's trying to find any reason to avoid the creepy glitter-grin

Obviously based on Adam's work, like you said, but you definitely did a lot to make the piece your own. A good example of taking an existing image, and seeing how it would come out through your own hand, as opposed to just copying it. Love the details you put in!

And I know a cat or two that make that exact expression! :D

Seriously, you're just getting better and better. I really like that yours doesn't look like Audrey Hepburn (it makes me uncomfortable and frankly, unnerves me a little when she does) and I really like the detail on the skin shading and how you drew her hand and the hair is always excellent.

As always, I really like the way you draw women's bodies. It's interesting to see how they're very uniquely you but they also differ from character to character (like your Batwoman tends to be more buff, aww yeah).
