A part of a Heroes Con 2012 pre-con commission, this Thor is Copic markers, white ink, and colored pencil on a sketch cover Avengers #1.

These covers can be really hit or miss in regards to how well they take Copic markers, and even ink. I think it has something to do with the sheen or gloss on the board. And it varies from run to run. In fact, I know artists who flat-out won't do sketch covers as a result. The Avengers #1 stock is one of the good ones, I think. The blending's a tad different because of the coating on the board but once you get used to it things go pretty well. The same coating makes a good scan tough to get. I'd really love to make a go at Thor in a larger, 11x14ish scale. All of the flowing cloth and shiny bits seem right up my alley. Unless you're following mya rt for the pinup work.
